Buying Guide: Choosing a Prime Timer or Cord
Timers for Indoor and Outdoor Use
Prime timers include mechanical models with a 24 hour repeating cycle, digital timers with countdown modes, in-wall timers, and a six outlet photocell power stake for garden or yard use. The indoor 24 hour mechanical timer is programmed in 30 minute intervals, and its on/off override switch gives you one-touch programming bypass. The outdoor digital countdown timer has a clear weather-guard cover over its programming dial.
Extension and Power Cords
Prime outdoor extension cords come in 12 ft. and 35 ft. white versions and a 50 ft. Hi Vis Pink version, and the 12 ft. white cord is water resistant and flame retardant. The power cord has a corded switch for turning on fans, lamps and holiday items. Match the gauge and length in the title to your load before ordering.
Light Strings and Surge Protection
The 50 ft. yellow light string has five sockets spaced 10 ft. apart for Type A incandescent bulbs up to 150 watts, suited to job sites, tree lots and temporary lighting. The black surge protector has six outlets, a 1150 joule rating, a lighted on/off switch with circuit breaker, and LED indicators for surge protection and grounding. Have a qualified technician handle any permanent electrical work.
