Buying Guide: Wood Grade Stakes

Common Uses for These Stakes
Gardeners use these stakes to support plants and outline beds, and they can be set in the corners or along the sides of raised beds and planters. On building and landscaping jobs, they mark elevations and locations on the ground. Surveyors also use them to mark points.

Pointed Ends and Wood Finish
The pointed tip helps you drive each stake into the ground with less effort. Some stakes are untreated wood that can be written on or painted, so you can label them as you work. Certain stakes are treated timber pegs, so check the details of each stake before you choose it.

Choosing Height and Pack Size
Pick a height that gives you enough stake above the ground for your project, and measure the depth of your bed or the mark you need before ordering. Match the part number or height on your old stakes if you are replacing them. Packs come in counts of 12 or 24, so choose the count that covers your job.
