Buying Guide: Tie Down Cable and Anchors
Aircraft Cable and Slings
Tie Down Engineering aircraft cable is sold in galvanized steel and vinyl coated galvanized steel, in diameters such as 1/16 in. and 3/8 in. and lengths such as 50 ft. and 100 ft. Some cable models come with a professionally swaged loop and thimble on one end. Cable slings are sold in clear vinyl coated galvanized steel, such as 1/4 in. Dia. x 6 ft. L.
Eye Anchors and Earth Anchors
Steel oval head anchor eyes, some with auger, are used for guying and anchoring trees, tents, boats, fencing and similar items. You insert a steel bar through the anchor eye and turn the anchor by hand. The double headed double helix anchor is an earth anchor for use with a tie down strap, bolt and stabilizer plate to secure a manufactured home to the ground.
Strapping and Manufactured Home Hardware
Galvanized steel strap, strap buckles and slotted bolts with nuts are sold for manufactured home tie-down systems. The double helix anchor requires a slotted bolt and a strap, which are sold separately. Check that each part matches the size on your old part before you order.
