Buying Guide: Torches and Welding Tips
Torches by fuel and job
Several Sievert torches run on propane or MAPP gas, such as the Pro 5 and Pro 9 propane torches and the MetalJet torch with MAPP gas. The Butajet torch uses normal butane gas and suits small, fine soldering work. Check which fuel a torch runs on before you buy.
Welding tips by metal
Sievert welding tips come in steel, copper and brass versions, with flame shapes such as pin-point, standard, cyclone, soft flame and flat flame. Match the tip to the metal you are joining and the flame pattern you need. Confirm the part number on your old tip before ordering a replacement.
Ignition and accessories
Some torches, such as the Zinc Torch and the MultiTorch Spark Torch, use piezo or spark ignition, so you do not need a separate lighter. Flint strikers and a welding kit are also available. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for gas handling and use.
