Reflectix

Buying Guide: Reflective Insulation and Pipe Wrap

Radiant Barrier Insulation Rolls
Some Reflectix radiant barrier rolls have foil on both outer faces with polyethylene bubbles between them. They come in several widths and lengths, so you can choose a roll that covers your space. R-values depend on the application, so check the R-value for the product you choose.

Pipe Wraps and Expansion Joint Rolls
The aluminum pipe wraps are meant to reduce condensation on cold pipes and reduce heat loss on hot pipes. The expansion joint roll is a closed-cell foam product that can be shaped to contours and includes a tear-off strip. Multi-pack options are available for some wraps.

Foil Tapes for Seams
Reflectix foil tape is used for seaming its reflective insulation products. A white poly tape is also offered for the white side of single reflective insulation. Use the tape that matches the insulation you are installing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Reflectix make?
Reflectix offers reflective radiant barrier insulation rolls, aluminum pipe wraps, an expansion joint roll and foil tapes. Some insulation rolls use foil layers bonded to polyethylene.

How do I choose the right size or type?
Measure the area you plan to cover before ordering and pick a roll width and length that covers the job. For pipe wraps, match the pipe size, and for tape, match the insulation type. Check the R-value on the product for your application.

Do I need special tools to install Reflectix insulation?
The insulation needs only basic tools, such as a stapler, tape measure, utility knife, straight edge and safety glasses. Follow the manufacturer's instructions, and have a qualified technician handle any fuel, gas or pressure-system work.
