Each steel ladder hook is used in a pair, with both hooks set over the top two rungs and tightened with their wing nuts so the ladder stays in place on the roof edge. The hooks are designed for single or extension ladders. The aluminum ladder jack sets over two consecutive rungs, can be used on either side of a ladder, and is made for painting, siding and repair work.
