Buying Guide: Pliers, Cutters and Wire Strippers

Cable Shears and Bolt Cutters
The Stepcut cable shears measure 160 mm and cut various cables with significantly reduced effort, up to 40 percent easier than standard cable shears of the same length. The 8 in. mini bolt cutter uses a lever-action mechanism, and a 10 in. fencing bolt cutter is also offered. Check the cable size and the bolt diameter against the tool before you cut.

Wire Strippers and Lineman's Pliers
Wire strippers come in sizes such as 5-1/4 in., 7-1/4 in. and 8 in., and the 7-1/4 in. model is a wire stripper and cutter. The insulated lineman's pliers measure 9-1/2 in., and the lineman's crimping pliers measure 9.5 in. Confirm the wire gauge suits the stripper before you strip the insulation.

Pliers Wrenches and Pliers Sets
The smooth jaw pliers wrenches come in 5 in., 7-1/4 in. and 10 in. sizes. The Cobra water pump pliers set has jaws that adjust at the touch of a button for different size objects. Pliers sets come in 2 piece and 3 piece options, so compare the set contents with the job before you buy.
