Buying Guide: Multimeters, Clamp Meters and Testers
Digital Multimeters
The compact 600 V true-rms multimeter has a bright backlight. Another 600 V multimeter measures true-rms voltage and current with a backlit display and one-handed operation. The HVAC multimeter has a built-in thermometer and microamp readings for testing flame sensors, and two 1000 V multimeters are also offered.
Clamp Meters
The 400 Amps AC clamp meter with True RMS measurements, optimized ergonomics and a large display is a basic troubleshooting tool for commercial and residential electricians. Another 400 Amps AC clamp meter and an LCD clamp meter are also offered. Check the current and voltage ratings against the circuits you plan to measure before you choose.
Testers and Voltage Detectors
The 600 V digital tester checks voltage, continuity and current, and you select volts, ohms or current to start. On the non-contact voltage detector, the tip glows red and the unit beeps when voltage is present. An analog AFCI/GFCI electrical outlet tester and a circuit breaker locator are also offered.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does Fluke make?
Fluke makes digital multimeters, clamp meters, a digital tester, an analog AFCI/GFCI outlet tester, a circuit breaker locator, a non-contact voltage detector, test leads and a 662 degree infrared thermometer. Ratings in the product names include 600 V, 1000 V and 400 Amps.
How do I choose the right meter or clamp meter?
Start with what you need to measure, such as voltage, current or resistance, and check the voltage and amp ratings in the product name, such as 600 V or 400 Amps. Match the model to the circuits you plan to test, and follow the meter's manual. Have a qualified technician handle any electrical repair.
Does Fluke make an outlet tester?
Yes. Fluke makes an analog AFCI/GFCI electrical outlet tester and a circuit breaker locator. Follow the instructions in the tester's manual before each use, and have a qualified technician handle any electrical repair.
