Buying Guide: Choosing a V-Groove Pulley
V-Groove and Variable Speed Pulleys
Single V-grooved pulleys come in diameters such as 1 1/2 in., 2 in. and 10 in., with bore sizes such as 1/2 in. and 3/4 in. Variable speed pulleys are die cast for A and B belts and are sold for fractional horsepower use. Stepped V-groove pulleys offer several outside diameters on one piece, such as 2, 3 and 4 in.
Shaft Collars and Work Arbors
Zinc shaft collars are sold for 1/4 in., 1/2 in., 5/8 in. and 3/4 in. shafts, and several come in packs of 10. Some work arbors, such as the 606-5, have a 1/2 in. 20 thread and take buffing wheels 3/4 in. wide. Check the shaft size on your equipment before you order.
Pillow Bearing Block
The pillow bearing block is built for a 3/4 in. shaft and uses a sintered bronze bearing. It is self-aligning and can take up to 3 degree misalignment per foot. Confirm the shaft diameter and bolt size before installing it.
