Buying Guide: Arrow Fastener Staples, Nails and Rivets
Staples and Staple Guns
Staples are sized by width, length and gauge, such as 1/2 in. W x 1/4 in. L 18 Ga. for insulated staples. Insulated staples are for use only with their matching gun. Match the staple to your tool, such as the flat staple gun or the flat plier stapler.
Brad Nails, Pin Nails and Nailers
Brad nails are 18 Ga. and up to 2 in. long, such as 1-1/2 in. straight strip nails for trim, molding and flooring. Pin nails are 23 Ga., such as 1/2 in. straight strip nails, and they have no head, so they leave a very small hole but offer limited holding strength. Match the nails to your nailer, such as the 18 Ga. brad nailer or the 23 Ga. pin nailer.
Rivets and Rivet Tools
Stainless steel rivets are sold in sizes such as 1/8 in. diameter by 1/2 in. length, in packs of 15. The steel rivet tool has an extended nose that makes hard-to-reach places accessible, and its interchangeable nose uses 3/32, 1/8, 5/32 and 3/16 in. diameter rivets. Match the rivet diameter to your tool before you order.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Arrow Fastener brand offer?
Arrow Fastener offers staples for staple guns and staplers, brad and pin nails, corded and pneumatic nailers, rivets with rivet tools, hammer tackers and plier staplers. Its insulated staples are for hanging and protecting insulated cables and wires, and they are for use only with the matching gun.
How do I choose the right staple, nail or rivet size?
Start with the tool model and the size printed on the old fastener or in the tool manual. Staples are sized by width, length and gauge, nails by gauge and length, and rivets by diameter and length. Match those numbers exactly, since a fastener with the wrong gauge or length may not work in your tool.
Which staples are for insulated cables?
Insulated staples, such as the 1/2 in. W x 1/4 in. L 18 Ga. wide crown with 300 per pack, are used to hang and protect insulated cables and wires. They are for use only with the matching gun, so check your tool before you buy.
